Yes OEM specifies dry but they also most likely specify CLEAN and dry which is rarely the case. Ultimately I just would LOVE to dispel the fantasy that greased threads loosen and back off. Clamping force ends up higher if anything.
In a science program on TV it was explained that if you grease nutsbolts it can increase the torque by 20 I dont know if the mfg figures given are for greased or not. Personally I use a telescopic wrench extended to undo them and closed to do them up if you look at mfg supplied wheel wrench they are not that long so you dont over torque them. Also grease makes the friction between the nut and the stud decrease dramatically and if they are torqued to the proper amount on a torque wrench the nut is overtightened which could stretch the threads.
