You most likely have a bad seal in the lower unit. The lower unit is fairly easy to remove if you are a do it yourselfer change the water pump while you have it apart. If you dont want to change it yourself you could remove the lower unit and take it to a shop.

Since youve got gear oil leaking out of the WATER intakes youve got a problem that needs immediate attention. The failed seal is most likely part 9 or more likely 10. The seals on the lower unit are one way seals and are designed to keep water out of the lower unit not necessarily to keep oil from coming out the other way. So assuming that you depressurized the lower unit let the lower unit drain and refill it properly with no further sign of oil out the water intake you should just plug up the lower unit after the oil is at the correct level.
The only places it can leak besides the fill and drain plug is behind the prop and around the drive shaft and shift shaft which you cant see. You would have to drop the lower gearcase to see those seals. The most common leaking place is behind the prop and it generally happens when youre going along.

Then when you go to use the motor in the warmer time of the year keep a very close eye on the lower unit. Noticed today in the driveway the motor was leaking a small amount of oil onto the driveway.
The leak was dripping out of the water intake see photo. Researching it sounds like it could be the driveshaft seal or possibly just used oil making its way out the motor. All the seals except for the input shaft seal are just pull outdrive in seals.
If it is the upper leaking you just need an upper unit seal kit. Check the oil to see if its low. Drain some and look for signs of water white runners in the oil or milkshake.

So i pulled the intake screens and the little allen head screw under the screen is leaking. It was loose and the allen head portion of the bolt is almost completely stripped out. Sitting increases the chance of water in the drive but still fairly remote since the internal cavity is so full.

Its definitely oil from the fueloil mix not oil from the lower unit gear case. The oil is black and has an exhaust smell to it. The oil in the gear case is almost as clean looking as it was the day it was put in.

No issues with the stbd motor besides some hair on the mag plug but it was just a little bit. The intake is the screen on the skeg aft of the prop. The hole with the oil leak is the weep hole that allows water.

It appears to be dripping of the bottom fin but not sure where its originating from. IF it really is gear oil it can only leak via the prop shaft seals which it clearly isnt the drive shaft seals below the water pump the shift rod seal boot or the gasket on the top of the gearcase not sure about this last one though.
