If you have a Manual and some tools its not a big deal. Besides it is part of the motors maintenence every year or two. Basically you take the lower unit off and the water pump sits on top of it.
You replace the pump. Once the keeper is removed shift the lower unit into forward and remove the nut from the upper shift rod. Remove the forward nut and four bolts on the side of the lower units two bolts on each side 6.
Separate the lower unit from the exhaust housing by pulling it straight away form the exhaust. Push the water pump housing down over the driveshaft and twist it against the tops of the impeller blades in the correct orientation that you removed it. Turn the propeller with one hand and shove the housing down with the other hand to seat the pump housing.
Insert the water pump housing bolts and tighten them with a socket. Pull the pump insert out of the water pump cover with the needle nose pliers. Apply gasket sealant to the outer diameter of the replacement driveshaft seal.
Install the new seal from the pump replacement kit into the top of the pump housing so that the rounded edges of the seal face toward the impeller. Remove the water pumps mounting bolts. Remove the O-ring from the drive shaft.
Remove the water pump case. Check for sand dirt and debris in the power head and flush it out if necessary. Use a screwdriver to remove the impeller.
