The pipes will always be much cooler than this but this is why ceramic coatings and header wraps are designed to withstand 2000F. Did you spray this on all your exhaust wrap.

Its the stock system on a 73. Just a close figure will work. With the temp gun everything checks out between 160-175 except for the exhaust manifold.

Even the riser is only around 115. The thermostat was replaced with OEm parts.
